Experience of St. Paul Lutheran School
I took a short visit to St. Paul Lutheran School this summer holiday and the school left me a deep impression.
The morning of the campus is quiet. The fog seems to be a thin layer of gauze that encircles the campus. The sun is rising gradually. At first, there was a trace, like a fiery line. Then, like a shy little girl, she showed a half-face. In a flash, the sun rises. That represents the beginning of a new day. The flowers and trees were also awakened. The air on campus is also very fresh. It's a little cool, a little moist, and it makes you feel very relaxed.
The classes here are very interesting .The school provides us with many classes. Before lunch we also have physical education—we can play sports we like for half an hour. After lunch, we have 20 minutes to read the books we like. Our teacher is an all-powerful man, who teaches nearly all the subjects, and he plays the trumpet very well. So our headmaster played a joke to say:” You can form a band!”
Our headmaster is a kind man. He always keeps smiling. Every morning he asked me if I spent a good night. When chatting to the headmaster, we learnt about the other side of American students and teachers. American students learn to look open and relaxed, and in fact they are much more stressed than Chinese students. Students in addition to finishing a certain cultural courses, but also must participate in a certain public welfare activities, sports clubs, gatherings, these are the indicators of further studies, the school is the comprehensive ability of students. In the United States, the requirements of teachers are very high, unlike us in China, the United States does not have a normal university, everyone can be a teacher, but must pass the qualification test, most teachers have a master's degree, some have two degrees, and even a doctorate degree.
What impressed me most was my popularity of the American family there. I remember once when I suggested that after eating to help do some housework and washing dishes, the American mother has said "No ,no ,no" five or six times, the attitude is very positive. And told me:" You just lived here, so you don't need to do any housework. We can do it." Every day, she asked me what I wanted to eat, and the father often taught some truth, and told me not to take drugs, drink alcohol and smoke in the future. Every evening, I practiced the piano with my little brother of my host family. We also discussed our common hobby—singing. That let me feel the enthusiasm of American family.
One day before farewell, I played the piano for the whole school. After my performance, the headmaster gave me some gifts—including cards from many of the children at the school. When I saw the cards, I was really moved. Some words were even written in Chinese! On the day of farewell, the headmaster not only drove his car and sent us to the airport, but also invited me to have a traditional American breakfast. The warmth has always been kept in my heart.
It’s a fate that we can meet together, but the world is not a feast, the 10-day St. Paul Lutheran middle school visits to exchange activities painted a perfect stop. Students experienced in the American classroom deeply, felt the unique western English teaching style, felt the rich local customs, the essence of American culture. In the experience of multi-cultural, we enrich the inner spirit of the world, inspired by their pursuit of excellence, but also passed the Sino-US friendship! Line of thousands of people, the eyes have seen, the heart has a sense of knowing and doing one, then the world is in control.
